The institute was founded to teach and train people interested in researching special education and rehabilitation, psycho-social support, integration and advocating for various organizational structures. The Institute’s concept originated in Tuzla in 2007, initiated by Husnija Hasanbegovic, a university professor. Since 2002, he has dedicated himself to developing specially designed educational programs for children with sensory difficulties. To achieve this goal, he brought together like-minded individuals from various professional backgrounds at the University of Tuzla. They formed a commission focused on humanism, humane education, and rehabilitation. In the aftermath of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, there was an urgent need to address widespread discrimination in education. Quick action was essential to assist individuals or groups facing obstacles in independent progress. Additionally, there was a necessity to devise effective methods for special education and communicate the principles of educational humanism to the broader public.
